How do I use the YIONN Shaving set?

The shaving angle (the position of the razor relative to your skin) is the most important factor.

The ideal position of the blade relative to your skin is 30°. If you make the angle too small, it can cause irritation and a burning sensation, and you risk getting micro-cuts.
If the angle is larger than 30°, there’s a chance the blade won’t touch your skin, and therefore won’t shave off any hairs.

Position Single Blade razor
Follow these steps:

  • Make your skin warm and moist before you begin.
  • Apply a thin layer of shaving cream to the area you want to shave.
  • Place the razor on your skin and position it at the correct angle. You’ll learn the right angle through experience. Don’t give up right away if it doesn’t work the first few times; practice really does make perfect.
  • Don’t press on the razor. Pressing on the razor while shaving is the most common reason for cutting yourself. Let the weight of the shaving head do the work, and don’t apply extra pressure.
  • Shave with the grain, especially if you’re not used to a Single Blade yet.
As a beginner, this is a must. It’s better for your skin and more comfortable.
  • Shave with short strokes. A single blade doesn’t have a pivoting head that follows the contours of your body. Short strokes make it easier to move along with your curves.
  • Rinse your razor regularly while shaving.
Shaving cream and hairs build up around the shaving head. Rinse this out frequently in between for the best results.
  • After shaving and drying off, apply the Náinn aftershave balm.
Let Náinn absorb, then apply the Raka* treatment lotion. Let absorb and do not rinse off.
After this, you can apply deodorant, body lotion, or other care products as desired.

Don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work perfectly with the razor the first time. A common “complaint” is that the razor doesn’t remove hairs, or that you have to go over the same patch of skin multiple times.

This is simply a matter of patience and getting used to it: you need to master the shaving angle. With a Single Blade, you can remove hairs in one stroke, and going over the same area repeatedly is really not necessary.

* Contains a small amount of aspirin. Not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in case of allergy.

Who is this Shaving set (not) suitable for?

The shaving package is suitable for both men and women, for all body types and skin tones.

It is ideal for anyone looking for a sustainable alternative to disposable razors, and those who suffer from a burning sensation, itching, redness and/or ingrown hairs after shaving.

Are you pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to acetylsalicylic acid (better known by the brand name Aspirin)? Then Raka is not suitable.
Do you still want to use Raka during pregnancy or breastfeeding? Always consult your medical specialist before you start using it. Good to know: Raka contains less than 2% acetylsalicylic acid in a full 90ml bottle.

Which body parts is the Shaving set suitable for?

With the Shaving set, you can shave all parts of your body where you want to remove unwanted hair.
Be careful with thin-skinned areas like the back of your knees and groin. The rounded head of a Single Blade razor helps prevent cuts, but always make sure to keep your skin pulled tight, especially in these areas.

Your intimate zone is the most sensitive, and also the part of your body with the most nooks and crannies. So always be extra careful here, and only do this once you’ve gained some experience with a Single Blade razor. Keep the skin pulled tight here too to prevent nicks.
Shave your mons pubis from top to bottom, and if your skin allows it, from bottom to top.
Shave your groin from left to right, and further “down under,” shave from top to bottom again.

Do you have a pimple or a mole? If possible, shave away from the pimple or mole to avoid damaging it.

How long does one blade last?

To extend the life of your Single Blade razor, as well as an individual blade, it’s important to dry your razor well after use. Blades become dull faster (primarily) due to contact with liquids, rather than friction with your hair.
Blades with an anti-rust coating help extend their lifespan.

Unfortunately, there’s no standard answer for how long one blade lasts. This depends on the thickness and density of your hair, how often you shave, your experience, and your shaving technique. Depending on the various factors mentioned above, you can shave an average of 8 to 10 times with one blade.

I’m shaving, but no hairs are being removed?

What often goes wrong is that the razor is assembled incorrectly, with the shaving head placed back onto the handle upside down.
Make sure the razor is assembled correctly.
