What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files containing data that are stored on your computer’s hard drive via your browser when you visit a website. These files store certain settings for a website, for example, so you don’t have to reconfigure them every time you visit. A unique ID can also be stored, allowing a website to measure how many unique visitors have visited the site, or to track which pages you’ve visited so that other relevant pages can be offered based on that. Although a cookie can be used to store a unique profile of the user in question, cookies never contain personal data such as name or address details.

The YIONN website uses cookies for various purposes.

Functional cookies

We use cookies to ensure that the site continues to work properly and is easy to use. This includes:

  • Saving preferences so you don’t have to set them again on every visit (such as language choice)
  • Keeping track of certain settings or data when you navigate from page to page (such as filter settings or your shopping cart)
  • Storing the contents of your shopping cart so it is saved for a subsequent visit.
  • Storing your login details (if you activated this in your browser during your first login)
  • Remembering filled-in data so you can quickly reuse it (if you activated this functionality in your browser)
  • Being able to conduct a chat conversation with customers who have questions.
  • Distributing the load on the servers evenly, which keeps the site working quickly.

We use WooCommerce as the platform for our websites. For the sake of completeness, we also refer here to the privacy statement of WooCommerce.

Analytical cookies

We measure the use of our website through a number of third-party tools. We do this to detect and fix errors on our site, to increase ease of use, and to test new functionalities or designs (so-called A/B tests). These tools use cookies for this purpose.

  • We use Google Analytics for general statistics, such as page views, unique users, time per page/visit, conversion rate, etc. For the sake of completeness, we also refer here to Google’s privacy statement.
  • We use Hotjar to research the use of the pages. For the sake of completeness, we also refer here to the privacy statement of Hotjar.
  • We use Klaviyo for our newsletters. For the sake of completeness, we also refer here to the privacy statement of Klaviyo.

Advertising cookies

We use advertising networks to show users who are interested in our products advertisements for our products and promotions on other websites. These advertising networks use cookies to create a unique profile, recording which pages you have visited, in order to show the right advertisements based on that. This happens anonymously. No personal data, such as name or address details, is stored, nor is a link made to your YIONN account.

Cookies are also used to link the display of the advertisement to a possible purchase of the product, so that a fee can be paid to the advertising network based on this.

We use the networks listed below, among others. Click on the network name to view that network’s privacy statement.
Google
Facebook
Microsoft

A tool has been developed by the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance that allows you to see which advertising networks track information. There is also the option to opt your browser out of one or more networks. Note: this does not only apply to YIONN sites, but to all sites you have visited or will visit. For more information, visit http://www.youronlinechoices.com/
