When you have just shaved, your skin feels sensitive and sometimes redness is immediately visible. Soon after depilating your bikini line, legs or other body part, itching may also occur.
Why do you itch after shaving and what helps against itching?

Can you reduce or completely prevent itching after shaving? I answer all your questions in this blog article. Read on quickly.
Why do I suffer from itching after shaving?
Itching after hair removal occurs because your skin was damaged or irritated during shaving. This can be caused by dry or sensitive skin, but also by an old or blunt razor, poor hygiene, shaving too quickly, shaving against the direction of growth, or using inappropriate products. Itching and red bumps can be addressed by adjusting your shaving routine and taking good care of your skin before, during and after hair removal.

What helps against itching after shaving?
So itching and red bumps after shaving are a sign of a shaving routine in need of improvement, because fortunately, there is nothing wrong with your skin at all. It is a natural reaction of your skin to hair removal. In fact, this is very stressful for our skin, especially when we do it carelessly. You have to imagine that during shaving, your skin and hair follicles are exposed to thousands of bacteria, fungi and yeasts (already present on the skin). In addition, your skin comes into contact with your razor and the grooming products you use. So there are a lot of factors that determine the success of your shave. For example, a dirty razor or a skin care product containing perfume can cause an unwanted skin reaction. Good, you now know how the itching occurs and that there is a solution. Luckily, because you want to get rid of itching after hair removal as soon as possible. Here are my 10 (proven!) tips for hair removal without itching.

1. Scrub your skin regularly
Our skin is constantly renewing itself. The old skin cells, which we call dead skin cells, fall off our bodies over time, but some dead skin cells always stick to our skin. You can still remove these by exfoliating. Do you suffer from dull, gray or uneven skin with bumps? Then your skin is most likely in need of an exfoliation. I recommend exfoliating with a mild scrub two or three times weekly for optimal effect.
2. Warm up your skin before shaving
For your skin, shaving is always another scare. Taking a little time to prepare your skin for a shave is therefore a rewarding chore. You can easily do this by shaving under a hot shower. After about five minutes, your skin has warmed up nicely, your hair has softened and your pores are well open. This allows you to shave off hairs more easily.
3. Always shave with a sharp razor
It is incredibly important to shave with a sharp razor. Compare it to cutting with blunt scissors. This is almost impossible to do and does not produce a neat result. Once you notice that the razor no longer glides smoothly across your skin, it’s time to replace your razor, or if you already shave with a single-blade razor, the blade.
4. Switch to shaving with a single-blade razor
If you currently shave with multi-blade razor blades, I recommend switching to a single-blade razor as soon as possible. Here you can read why I myself never use multi-blade razors again. You will soon find that you suffer less from wounds, itching and ingrown hairs.

5. Never shave without shaving cream again
Shaving without a shaving cream is a common mistake and we have all been guilty of it at one time or another. Use only water or shampoo or borrow shaving cream for men from your partner or roommate. It gets the job done, but it’s not ideal. A soap-free shaving cream for women protects your skin from cuts and irritation during shaving (it acts as a protective layer) and nourishes and moisturizes your skin at the same time.
6. Soothe your skin after shaving
If you have just experienced a stressful event you always need to recover from it. Just rest and catch your breath with a glass of water or conversation with someone close to you. The same is true for your skin. Your skin likes to be pampered after the stress of hair removal. Therefore, care for your depilated skin with a soothing lotion such as the Náinn aftershave balm with Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and mint oil. This instantly calms your skin and reduces the chance of itching after hair removal.

7. Stop scratching
Stopping scratching is definitely not easy if you suffer from itching after hair removal. It’s so tempting to temporarily relieve itchy skin by scratching, but you only make the problem worse. There are thousands of bacteria under our nails, and in addition, there is a good chance that you will open your skin and cause wounds (and eventually scars). Not scratching is easier when you care for your shaved skin immediately after shaving with an aftershave balm with soothing ingredients such as chamomile. By doing this, you address the cause of the itching.
8. Wait to wear tight clothing
Hair removal in the evening is convenient for several reasons: for one, you usually have just a little more time than in the morning, and you can hoist yourself into a comfortable suit or pajamas afterwards. Because did you know that pinching clothes or underwear can be a cause of itching, red bumps and ingrown hairs? Yes. Always let your skin dry thoroughly after shaving and wear airy clothing afterwards. This way, your skin gets enough oxygen and gives it a chance to recover from hair removal.

9. Nourish your skin with a rich body cream
If you suffer from redness, razor bumps and ingrown hairs in addition to itching, I recommend investing in the most complete approach to shaving irritation: YIONN’s Raka lotion. I developed this effective lotion to address my own problems with shaving and have since helped thousands of women with it. It is a lotion that you initially apply daily to the areas you want to depilate: legs, armpits, bikini line, arms and/or face. The great thing about this lotion is it both removes dead skin cells and evens out your skin, restores it and contains pain and itching ingredients such as willow bark and camphor. The Raka lotion is the icing on the cake of your shaving routine. I hope these ten tips will help you say goodbye to itching after hair removal for good. Whether it’s your legs, bikini line, armpits, arms or face. If you want all your products in one click, I recommend the YIONN GOLD package. From registered nurse to hair removal expert:
I am Wendy, the founder of YIONN.
I know better than anyone what it is like to go through life with shaving discomfort.
After desperately trying every possible way and remedy for red razor bumps and ingrown hairs, I was fed up.
I decided to find a solution to my shaving irritations that worked and it did!
I developed Raka, a caring lotion based on rose water, camphor and willow bark, which, by applying thinly to the problem area, easily and quickly calms the skin after hair removal, prevents red bumps and allows the hairs to grow out – instead of in – again.
And with that, I could finally say goodbye to my insecurities and discomforts.
Hallelujah.
When it later turned out that Raka was not only for me, but also for many other women, I started making several other products around it that can make hair removal a pleasant experience again.
And because I’m so convinced it works and I don’t want to keep your money in the rare case you’re not satisfied with it I came up with the unique YIONN within 30 days money-back guarantee (a guarantee you never normally get on hygiene products).
