The 7 most common bikini line shaving mistakes

After shaving your bikini line, do you experience irritation such as red bumps (resembling pustules), itching or wounds? Then chances are you can improve your shaving routine in several ways. I help you avoid the 7 most common bikini line shaving mistakes for a nicer, smoother shave

The 7 most common bikini line shaving mistakes

1. Your skin is not clean

Have you ever thought about the importance of cleaning the skin of your intimate area before shaving? Perhaps not. Cleansing your skin properly beforehand prevents bacteria from entering the open hair follicles during shaving. I always recommend taking a hot shower first, this way the hair becomes softer, and while showering, exfoliate with YIONN Kjarr. This removes dead skin cells and bacteria.

2. Your hair is too long

If it’s been a while since you shaved, your hairs are too long to shave with just a razor. Your razor immediately gets clogged and can no longer neatly cut the hairs. This increases the risk of severed hairs (and thus irritation). Be sure to trim the hair first. Use a clean trimmer or scissors for this purpose.

3. The razor is of poor quality

Do you still shave with multi-blade razor blades? Then switch to a single-blade razor for women. This cuts hairs sharply and reduces the strain on your sensitive skin. Always make sure you use a sharp razor blade so replace them on time and clean and dry them after each use. If you shave with a blade that is not clean or blunt, you increase the risk of irritation.

4. You don’t use protection

Shaving without protection is a common mistake. To make the razor glide over the skin, only water or an inappropriate product such as shower gel is used. Are you guilty of this? Time to change that soon. Before you shave, you should preferably protect your skin with a clear shaving gel for women. This way you protect your skin and see clearly what you are doing. You let the gel soak in for a while and then you can shave. After shaving, rinse the residue off with warm water.

5. You do not consider the direction of hair

From top to bottom, left to right, do you move the razor in every possible direction while shaving? Ai! I get it, especially when you need to shave hard-to-reach areas. Still, it’s better not to do this, because going against the direction of the hair causes irritation. So check which way the hair grows first. In the same direction move the razor.

6. After shaving, you don’t take care of your skin

Shaving can be quite a chore and when you are finally done you want to get on with your day quickly. Very understandable! But after shaving, don’t forget to take good care of your skin. Use an after-shave balm such as the nourishing YIONN Náinn aftercare balm with chamomile. A perfume-free balm after shaving provides instant cooling and soothes your skin. This makes any redness go away quickly and reduces your chances of further irritation.

7. The clothes you wear don’t let your skin breathe

What do you put on after shaving? It is wise to avoid tight clothing such as pants, briefs and boxers for a while after shaving. Because the skin needs to recover from a shave, preferably wear light, loose clothing after shaving so that your skin can recover for a while and get enough air. Did you make the mistake of immediately putting on your favorite tight-fitting lingerie or jeans? From now on, no more. Which of the above mistakes are you guilty of? Now that you know what not to do (and what not to do) especially when shaving your bikini line, hopefully you can avoid itching, red bumps and ingrown hairs in the future. YIONN has developed the perfect product for every step of your shaving routine!

You’re fed up. Those annoying red bumps, ingrown hairs, and itching after shaving your bikini line, underarms, and legs. It leaves you feeling frustrated and anything but confident.

No woman should ever feel that way, and neither should you!

First, let me reassure you: there’s nothing wrong with your skin. Your skin is simply doing what it’s designed to do, reacting to the stress of shaving, which leads to unwanted side effects like itching and red bumps.

That’s not the result we women want, so we need to give our skin and nature a little extra help. And that’s exactly what YIONN products are designed to do!
