How do I use a Single Blade razor?
The shaving angle ( the position of the blade relative to your skin ) is most important. The ideal position of the blade relative to your skin is 30°. If you make the angle too small, it can cause irritation and a burning sensation, and you are likely to get wounds. If the angle is greater than 30°, there is a chance that the blade will not touch your skin, and thus will not shave off any hairs.
Proceed as follows:
- Make your skin warm and moist before you begin.
- Place the blade on your skin and position the blade at the correct angle.
- Through experience you learn what the right angle is. Don’t give up right away if you don’t succeed the first few times; practice really does make perfect.
- Do not press the knife
- Pressing on the blade during shaving is the most common reason of cutting yourself. Let the weight of the shaving head do its work, and do not apply extra pressure
- Especially if you are not yet accustomed to a Single Blade, shave with the hair.
- As a beginner, this is a must. This is better for your skin and more comfortable.
- Shave with short strokes.
- A single blade does not have a moving head that follows the contours of your body. Short movements make it easier to move along.
- Rinse your blade regularly while shaving.
- Shaving cream and hairs accumulate around the shaving head. Rinse this regularly in between for best results.
Don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work out right the first time. A common “complaint” is that the blade does not remove hairs, or that it has to go over the same piece of skin often. This is just a matter of patience and habituation: you have to master the shaving angle. With a Single Blade, you can remove hair in 1 motion, and going over the same patch of skin extra often is really not necessary. For whom is a Single Blade razor (not) suitable?
A Single Blade razor is suitable for both men and women, for all body types and skin tones. It is ideally suited for anyone looking for a sustainable alternative to disposable razor blades.
What body parts is a Single Blade suitable for?
With a Single Blade razor, you can shave all parts of your body where you want to remove unwanted hair. Be careful with thin areas such as your knee hollows and groin. The rounded head of a Single Blade razor does help against cutting, but always make sure to keep your skin tight especially on these areas. Your intimate zone is the most sensitive, and also the part of your body with the most nooks and crannies. So always be extra careful here, and don’t do this until you have gained a little more experience with a Single Blade razor. Again, keep the skin tight to avoid cuts. Shave your Venus mound from top to bottom, and if your skin allows, from bottom to top. Your groin shaves from left to right, and further “down under” you shave again from top to bottom. Do you have a pimple or mole? If at all possible, shave away from the pimple or mole to prevent damage.
How long do I do with 1 razor blade?
To extend the life of your Single Blade razor, as well as a separate razor blade, it is important to dry your razor properly after use.
Blades become blunt faster due to (especially) contact with liquids, and not even so much due to friction with your hair.
Blades with an anti-rust coating help extend their life.
How long you do with 1 razor blade unfortunately has no standard answer.
It depends on the thickness and density of your hair, how often you shave, your experience and shaving technique.
Depending on the different factors mentioned above, you can shave an average of 8 to 10 times with one blade.
I shave, but no hairs are removed?
What often goes wrong is that the blade is assembled incorrectly, with the shaving head placed back on the handle the wrong way around. Ensure that your razor is properly assembled:
