While we were panting in the shade, ‘enjoying’ the warm summer – secretly hoping that the heat would finally end – your feet were stealing the show.

For your feet, summer was like an endless vacation. They enjoyed their freedom to the fullest! Like playful puppies on the beach, canaries soaring through the air, and children playing outside without worrying about mealtimes.

Your feet – soft and sun-kissed – were shining in your flip-flops, with your painted toenails as a graceful crown.

But the moment your feet have long feared has arrived. Your flip-flops are going back into the closet, and your feet are cringing. Their freedom is over for now. Out of the slipper, back into the sock and shoe.

1. Foot soak.

Prepare a foot soak with warm water. Add a fragrant oil or foam if you like, and let your feet soak for about 10 minutes. Dealing with rough patches or dry feet? Use a special foot scrub to keep your feet soft and smooth.

2. Filing.

Your feet carry you all day long, so the skin on the soles of your feet takes quite a beating, leading to calluses. Use a callus rasp or pumice stone to remove excess calluses.

Is your skin too tough to trim neatly? You can use a special callus cream to soften the skin first. This may be especially necessary on your heels, where the calluses tend to be the toughest.

3. Toenails.

Cut your toenails relatively straight using a nail scissors. Cutting them straight helps prevent painful ingrown nails.

After cutting, you can smooth the edges of the nails with a nail file and remove any dirt from underneath your nails.
Use a special cuticle pusher to gently push back the cuticles.

4. Foot cream.

After all the scrubbing and filing, your feet could really use a protective and nourishing layer.

Choose a specially formulated foot cream to hydrate and care for your feet. You can also use a body cream for this purpose.

5. Paint them.

Your toenails might see relatively little daylight in autumn and winter, but that’s no reason to take away their cheerful color. Give your nails a colorful look even in the colder months!
