Facial hair: TO BE or rather NOT TO BE?

Facial hair.
What can you really do about it?
And does hair actually grow back slower when you epilate?

Although every woman has some facial hair, it’s usually not very noticeable.

Still, most women prefer to get rid of their little mustache and opt for smooth, baby-soft skin.

Even tiny peach fuzz can cause discomfort for many people.

Shaving, Epilating, or Waxing? Does it Really Make a Difference?

There are many ways to temporarily or even permanently remove facial hair. Each option has its pros and cons, and the best method for you depends mainly on the desired result, how sensitive your skin is, and how much time you have.

1. Shaving

Shaving may be a quick and easy task, but you’ll need to do it often—about every two days.

This is because shaving only removes the part of the hair above the skin, not the root.

Many people believe that shaving makes hair grow back thicker, darker, or coarser, but that’s simply not true.
While the regrowing stubble may feel a little harder, nothing changes about the structure or color of the hair itself.

Tip: To avoid irritation, shave in the direction of hair growth.

2. Epilating

Unlike shaving, epilating removes the entire hair follicle. This means it will take much longer for the hairs to grow back. Plus, they’ll grow back thinner and lighter.

Got a few stray hairs around your eyebrows or chin? You can easily remove them with a tweezer!

However, plucking your entire upper lip may take quite a bit of time. This method can also be painful for people with sensitive skin.

Tip: Try to pull your skin tight in the opposite direction of your tweezing movement to ease the pain.

3. Waxing

Waxing can be painful, but after a session, you can enjoy smooth, hair-free skin for up to three weeks.

Like epilation, waxing removes the hair from the root. After each waxing session, the hairs will come back much lighter and softer.

In addition to the potential pain, one downside to waxing is that you’ll need some patience.

If the hairs are shorter than half an inch, it’s almost impossible to remove them this way.

Tip: Always test the wax before applying it to a larger area of your face. A common ingredient in wax is Rosin, which is found in many household items, including band-aids.
Rosin allergy is often called the “brown band-aid allergy,” so be aware that an allergic reaction to wax is usually a reaction to Rosin.

De Rosin allergie wordt dan ook vaak de “bruine pleister allergie” genoemd. Ben je er dus van bewust dat een allergische reactie op wax meestal een allergie tegen Rosin is.

4. Hair Removal Cream

Hair removal creams make facial hair disappear like magic. However, since these creams don’t reach the hair root, the hairs will return in just a few days.

Unlike shaving, you won’t have to deal with rough stubble after using a hair removal cream because the hairs are dissolved, not cut.

Tip: Always test the cream before applying it to your face. These creams contain many chemicals and can often be too harsh for delicate skin.

No matter which method you choose, make sure to properly care for your skin afterward.

Hair removal is still a stress moment for your skin. The hair is there for a reason, even if we women don’t like it and would prefer to get rid of it.

Avoid an unpleasant reaction from your skin after hair removal and ensure it calms down quickly, stays well-hydrated, and prevent any annoying side effects of hair removal.
