Depilate like a pro with these shaving tips

The softness of your sheets against your legs when you slip into bed at night. The refreshing streams of water cascading down your underarms. And that delightful feeling when you slide into your tights.

Isn’t it wonderful to feel so soft and hair-free?

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end.

Red bumps appear, ingrown hairs form in the strangest places, and stubble gradually grows back.

Do you want to enjoy your smooth shave for longer?

Then follow these tips!

Tips for a Super Smooth Shave

Before Shaving

✔️ Scrub! (But in moderation!)

A good scrub can do wonders for your skin. Nothing cleanses as thoroughly as a scrub, and it’s the perfect way to remove dead skin cells.

It’s a treat for your skin, offering a relaxing and rejuvenating effect—if done at the right time and in the right way.

Be gentle, limit scrubbing to two or three times a week at most, and never exfoliate right before or after shaving.

Why? Scrubbing before shaving makes your skin overly sensitive, and doing it after increases the risk of irritation and cuts. Always leave at least a day between scrubbing and shaving.

Tip! Don’t feel like spending a lot of money on a scrub (which often contains unnecessary ingredients)? Make your own scrub!

✔️ Snip, Snip Goes the Scissors

Razors are designed for short hairs and quickly get clogged by longer ones. Haven’t shaved in a while? Trim your hairs with small, sharp scissors beforehand.

One centimeter is the perfect length.

✔️ Disinfect Your Skin

Clean your skin well before shaving. This helps prevent infections, removes dead skin cells, and ensures your razor doesn’t get clogged.

During Shaving

✔️ Use Quality Tools

In Harry Potter’s magical world, the wand chooses the wizard, but here in the Muggle world, it’s up to you to choose your razor and shaving tools.

Make the right choice! Using the proper tools prevents many complications.

That rusty blade that’s been in your bathroom for six months? Toss it out! That cheap razor you saw at the store? Don’t buy it!

Good-quality shaving tools (like the YIONN Single Blade Razor) might be a bit pricier, but they’re worth it in the long run.

Dull or rusty blades only make shaving harder and belong in one place: the trash!

✔️ Shave in the Shower

Shaving in the shower serves two purposes: it softens the hairs and reduces the risk of shaving problems.

Why? When hair comes into contact with water, the keratin binds with the water, making it easier to cut. This reduces the risk of cuts and irritation.

How long should you shower? Five minutes is enough to soften your hairs and open your follicles, but not so long that your skin becomes wrinkled or swollen.

Tip! No time to shower? Wet a washcloth with warm water and press it onto the area you want to shave for a few minutes.

✔️ Don’t Overdo It on the Same Spot

Even the most experienced shavers miss a spot occasionally. If you need to go over an area again, that’s fine—but leave it at that! Shaving over the same area multiple times can irritate your skin. om door de vingers te zien? Ga er dan gerust een tweede keer over. Zorg er echter voor dat je het hierbij laat! Meermaals over hetzelfde plekje scheren kan je huid irriteren.

✔️ Tight, Tighter, Tightest!

Pull your skin taut with your free hand while shaving. This makes the hairs easier to reach and reduces the risk of cuts.

✔️ Shaving Cream

Using a good shaving cream (like our YIONN Shaving Cream) is essential.

It ensures a smoother shave, reduces the risk of cuts, and minimizes irritation.

(And yes, there’s a big difference between shaving cream and shaving foam!)

After Shaving

✔️ Rinse with Cold Water

Shaving with warm water is ideal, as it opens your pores and makes hair removal easier.

However, open pores also mean bacteria can enter more easily, increasing the risk of infection. Close those tiny openings with cold water.

Tip! Don’t like the idea of ending your shower with cold water? Use a cold washcloth instead.

✔️ Pat Dry Gently

After shaving, your skin is sensitive enough. Avoid irritating it further by rubbing it dry. Instead, gently pat it dry to minimize irritation.

✔️ Disinfect Your Skin

It’s essential to disinfect your skin after shaving as well.

✔️ Clean Your Razor

Not just your skin, but your razor needs to be cleaned and stored properly. The shower is not the best place to store it, as it will repeatedly get wet and wear out faster.

✔️ Hydrate and Soothe Your Skin

Most shaving routines remove not only hair but also moisture, leaving your skin dry and irritated.

What if I told you there’s a product that calms, restores, disinfects, purifies, nourishes, hydrates, softens, and refreshes your shaved skin?

It’s called YIONN Náinn, and it’s specially developed for women who want to soothe and strengthen their freshly shaved skin. It provides instant cooling and improves skin condition.

Note! Fragrant products may smell lovely, but they’re not suitable for your sensitive, freshly shaved skin!

✔️ Wear Loose Clothing

Tight clothes right after shaving can cause friction and irritation. Opt for loose-fitting clothing instead.

Also, avoid synthetic or woolen fabrics and let your skin breathe to reduce the chance of ingrown hairs.

✔️ Choose the Right Underwear

That lacy thong may be incredibly sexy, but it’s not the best choice for freshly shaved skin. Opt for cotton lingerie and avoid tight elastics, which can lead to ingrown hairs.

✔️ Avoid Swimming

Freshly shaved skin is sensitive to infections, so wait a day before swimming. Chlorinated pool water can irritate your skin, and salty seawater can be painfully harsh.

✔️ Take It Easy

Sorry, fitness fans, but you’ll need to take it easy for a bit. Sweating introduces bacteria to your freshly shaved skin, increasing irritation.

So, hopefully, these tips will help you enjoy silky smooth legs for longer this holiday season. (Because yes, even if you’re rocking the perfect pair of tights, we can still see those gorgeous legs of yours!)

No woman should ever feel that way, and neither should you!

First, let me reassure you: there’s nothing wrong with your skin. Your skin is simply doing what it’s designed to do, reacting to the stress of shaving, which leads to unwanted side effects like itching and red bumps.

That’s not the result we women want, so we need to give our skin and nature a little extra help. And that’s exactly what YIONN products are designed to do!
